I am BACP accredited counsellor with experience of working with individuals
of various ages, sexual orientations, races and backgrounds since 1998. I
can vary the focus, intensity and duration of the counselling depending on
the client’s needs.
With a background in commerce, I have experience of managing
change and dealing with the stresses of modern employment. I have wide
general counselling experience including:-
| Divorce/Relationship
Breakdown |
Anxiety/Panic Attacks |
| Sexual Problems/Abuse |
Low Self Esteem |
| Sexual Orientation Issues |
Fertility Problems |
| Bereavement |
Chronic Illness |
| Eating Disorders |
Unexplained Unhappiness |
I am also trained in group work and provide training therapy
for counsellors in training, along with mentoring and academic tutoring of
trainees.
Having originally trained for 5 years with Westminster Pastoral Foundation,
my primary qualification is the WPF Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic
Counselling. This is a long and rigorous post graduate training, which
included my own personal therapy. I am an accredited member of the BACP, a
member of the FPC and registered with UKCP and UKRCP. I comply with their
professional standards.
My practice is based on psychoanalytic principles and
methods which means I consider client's current problems at the same time as
understanding how the past influences the present. This
will involve helping people to resolve issues but, as importantly, being
there for people and listening. Sometimes people don't know what is wrong,
this is when being there, listening and building trust is essential.
